The Latest in Good Reads

Well!  I have been reading my eyes off.

I have a bookshelf outside my home housing what I can't fit into my storage or on my headboard.
My friends will remove a book and leave me one of theirs.  A great way to get new reads without buying!

Recently, one of my buddies took six of my Harry Bosch series and left me with two spectacular reads.
(Something amiss, no?  Two for Six?)  Regardless, I was grateful.  I eat books like chocolate on Valentine's Day.

I tore through A Numbered Account by Christopher Reich.  A gem!  This is a story of a man in pursuit of what happened to his father who was murdered.  He ditches his adored fiance and embarks on a mission in Switzerland, a la Bank-Ville.  A page turner and a refreshing change for me.  I knew nothing of the area or the banking system.  It was a delight.

Next was The Last Don, Mario Puco.  (The Godfather)  An excellent read.  Old Italian morales in a new, fast paced environment.  I expected nothing less and wasn't disappointed.

Last night, I finished Starvation Lake.  This is a first novel by promising new talent, Bryan Gruley.  I've only occasionally watched hockey.  This was a treat of a book about a small town coach who changes an entire town for the better, and then the worse.  It was fast and suspenseful with all the trimmings of a seasoned author.  Well done Mr. Gruley!

Of course, I read The Black Box, Michael Connelly's lates Bosch and was wildly disappointed when I turned the last page simply because it was over.  I can't get enough!  Mr. Connelly is getting the series produced through Amazon!  I can't wait to see it and intend to write him personally and grovel for a part.

Next up is Connelly again.  This time, The Brass Verdict, his Lincoln Lawyer series.  I'll crack it this evening when I get back from celebrating my comedian friend's fortieth birthday.  Welcome to adulthood!  I was glad to see Matthew McConaughey win a Golden Globe last night. And thrilled he was cast as Mickey Haller.

That's the latest scoop.  I'll try to post more often.  I'm writing my first murder mystery between work and shows.  Happy New Year to all!
